The kids received candy from many teachers. They seemed happy with all the candy and eagerly held their bags close.

Thursday, October 29 marked NC preschoolers’ annual trick-or-treating expedition throughout the school. Children dressed up and traveled to different classrooms in first and second period to gather candy and adoration from teachers and students.

Students in the Early Childhood development class took the kids to and from different classes. The participants showed of their diverse costumes to NC students in the hallways.

Students in the Early Childhood Education class at NC who take care of the preschoolers on a daily basis escorted the children around the building as another chance to learn about early child care. The trick or treating program, a tradition since the beginning of the preschool, both creates a fun event for the preschoolers and incorporates the high-schoolers as well.

Popular costumes included superheroes like Wolverine and Captain America, Disney princesses, and cats. Other students dressed as ghosts and witches to channel a Halloween vibe.

School nurse Fikera Gerald played a unique role in the Halloween treats: “This is my third year doing it, and they’re always adorable and polite. But being a nurse, I am always concerned about allergens: wheat, milk, peanut butter. I am always looking for stuff that doesn’t have those types of allergies in it, and this year I gave out laffy taffys and the year before I gave pretzels. Their safety is a big deal to me.” she said.

The day of trick-or-treating not only loaded the preschoolers up with sugary sweets, but also impacted each student helping and observing the event. The sight of costumed kids asking for candy throughout the school never fails to put a smile on every Warrior’s face, no matter their size.
