NC hosted its annual Senior Carnival on Wednesday, April 27, during third and fourth period.

The event boasted activities such as inflatable slides and parachutes, and classic carnival snacks like cotton candy and snow cones.

“I think the coolest part about the event was the snow cones… I also liked the bouncy houses. I felt like a big kid!,” senior class Vice President Kala Welcher said.

Rather than Tribal Connections hosting the event with students serving as event planners, NC’s administration staff planned the half-day affair. Coach JoBeth Weaver coordinated the carnival with help from assistant principal Stephen Revard and administrator Mary Goodwin. Revard maintained a low level of student involvement, stating that seniors offered guidance as to what festivities they preferred at the carnival.

“As a way to reward seniors for a job well done and almost being ready to complete their four year experience here, we want to give them something special during the school day,” Revard said.

“I really like that we were out of class so we could actually sit down and enjoy all of our friends before we graduate,” senior Mack Brown said, pictured here at the tennis courts.

The group  planned for weeks leading up to the original carnival on April 1, only to find it cancelled due to rain. Despite this setback, moving the carnival came with relative ease and provided a nice stress reliever for students during this busy time.

“I think [the carnival] adds an element of fun, like a field day with festive activities, for the seniors on one of their last times on this campus… everything’s done for the seniors and they’re ready to finish their high school career,” Weaver said.
