After a chaotic two years, the senior class of 2022 finally reunited in person for their final year of high school. The students will all look back on their high school years fondly and reminisce on the great memories that NC provided. “One of my favorite memories from school is having classroom debates and discussions with some of my favorite teachers. I loved hearing everyones opinions and being able to make connections with other students,” senior Maddy Nomura said.

While considered illustrious and holding the nickname of the Black Harvard, Howard University has caught itself within a scandal regarding the living conditions within its dormitories. Howard students showcased video after video of expired air filters, belongings covered in mold, an infestation of cockroaches and deplorable hose showers. Students set up tents outside on campus, arguing that the hefty price tag of 50,000 dollars for tuition and public and private grants to the school should cover their living conditions by tenfold.

Enthusiasm and applause filled Harrison High Schools Performing Arts Center on Saturday as the home of the Hoyas hosted the annual One-Act competition. Saturday’s competition allowed actors and actresses from five different local schools to bond over a common love of theatre. “My first One-act was so memorable because of how much fun we had. I loved being with my friends and watching amazing shows, as well as getting on stage and doing what we love. One-Act was so much fun and something I will never forget,” sophomore Savannah Tighe said.

The magnet program provides magnet students with an open lounge where students can work, eat lunch, and host meetings before and after school. Both James Auld, the magnet coordinator, and Leasa Bonilla, the magnet clerk, provide the students with an abundance of resources so that they can achieve all their goals. “I chose NC as it provided better opportunities for me as compared to my districted high school. I feel like I have achieved more through the magnet program as opposed to staying in my district. There was also more for me to be involved in at NC, like the clubs, games and people,” senior magnet student Allison Castaneda said.

NC Lady Warriors faced off against the Hillgrove Hawks on their Senior Night Tuesday, October 1, 2019. Though the Warriors walked away with a loss, the defense filled the game with amazing plays, and they will walk into their next game with their heads held high. “Some of us have been playing together for five or more years and we created lifelong friendships and memories. Sometimes good things shouldn’t come to an end,” NC senior varsity softball player Kathryn Bywaters said.
