      • Introducing a new podcast series on The Chant: Conspiracy Court, where the staff comes together to discuss conspiracy theories. This series provides an opportunity to discuss the different mind-blowing conspiracies and judge the accuracies of each. In this episode, seniors Haley Kish and Michelle Lin discuss the infamous John F. Kennedy assassination theory, as well as the possible holes of the story of Helen Keller.

      • After President Donald Trump made the executive decision to drop airstrikes in Baghdad that killed Iran’s top general, Qasem Soleimani, Americans started to speculate that Trump intended to start a conflict with Iran in order to distract Americans from his impeachment trials. “I used the game Jenga as inspiration for this political cartoon. The tower is supposed to represent the country’s stability and that’s why the American character carefully makes a move to bring impeachment into the picture. When Trump sees this he gets angry and decides to ruin the game by taking ‘revenge’ and taking out a block that would make the tower come crashing down,” NC Chant cartoonist Luis Ponce said.

      • Myths surrounding the intellect of historic black individuals often end up diminishing their achievements, preventing them from seeing their true ability or receiving the honor they deserve. People years ago dreamed of the technological advancements that the future would bring. Without the work and extensive research done by these prominent black individuals, modern everyday life would not take the same form.

      • The entertainment landscape of the 1990s continues to leave an immense impact on pop culture today, nearly 30 years after the decade’s start-with such generation-defining films like Jurassic Park and Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, legendary TV shows like Friends and Rugrats, iconic musicians like Tupac and the Spice Girls, and acclaimed video games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Metal Gear Solid, this decade continues to exist in the cultural zeitgeist; images from left to right, clockwise: an Toys-R-Us advertisement for the Nintendo 64, the logo for the late 90s music service Napster, the cast of HBO’s Sex and the City, the first edition of 1997’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, a Best Buy ad warning of the Y2K bug, and a poster for 1996’s Space Jam.

      • As seniors prepare for final college decisions the pressure of competitiveness among students reigns an all-time high. Some individuals may feel overwhelmed, insecure, and unsure about the college process while others maintain composure while boasting and bragging. Those individuals who do not know what they want to study may choose to enroll in a smaller institution for a multitude of reasons such as, financial cost, the transferring process, accessibility, and resources. On the contrary, other students may not see the benefits and degrade and shame one’s decision about enrolling in a smaller school.

Running purely for physical benefit doesn’t provide the only reason someone might want to put on their running shoes, however. An increasing amount of studies show that exercise provides several mental benefits as well.
