The NC varsity volleyball team (36-8) capped off a dominant regular season against a gritty Hillgrove squad (30-7) October 5. Despite an early deficit, the Lady Warriors powered through to a win in the final set of a best-of-five match. Coach Stephen Sansing joins to discuss the team’s promising season and the preparation for the region tournament.

From exchanging gifts, decorating homes and hosting Christmas parties, there remains plenty of debate on which day the season officially starts. In this podcast, two members of The Chant discuss their different views on the topic and analyze various aspects of the Christmas season.

Numerous Oscar-winning dystopian movies from earlier decades became known for their intricate storylines and captivating scores. Unfortunately, this genre of film dwindled significantly in past years due to the rise in popularity of other genres such as romance, horror and young adult fantasy. Older dystopian book-to-film adaptations continue to receive affection from fans. In particular, three different series: “The Maze Runner,” “The Hunger Games” and “Divergent” hooked younger audiences in the 2010s and influenced movie tastes for Generation Z today.

NC senior running back David Eziomume (2) has undoubtedly left his mark on the Warrior Nation. As the four-star Clemson commit prepares for the 2023 state playoffs, his future head coach Dabo Swinney sets the table for the future Tiger. After an unprecedented breakout senior season, Eziomume leaves his mark on Warrior football and moves on to his next chapter.

The International Extravaganza makes a groundbreaking return after a cancellation due to the pandemic in 2020. The evening event, hosted in NC’s cafeteria, provided students, parents, administration and the community with an enjoyable experience. Participants left with full stomachs and satisfied minds following presentations by Awtrey and Barber middle school students, who educated listeners with the cultures, traditions and customs of over 40 countries.

Throughout her entire life, senior Andria Atkinson has enjoyed anything remotely artistic. As an aspiring art therapist, Atkinson puts her all into setting her career up for success by participating in extracurriculars both in and outside of NC. With a love for art, community and connection, the senior creates projects to gift to her friends and family.

November 11, 2025, the NC Warrior men’s basketball team faced off against the Harrison High School Hoyas in a thrilling four-quarter bout. With fans in attendance and the scorecards at the ready, the season finally tipped off in NC’s arena. Despite the one-point loss, the squad displayed extensive hustle and effort.

Each year, the ocean temperatures break record highs, affecting the way fish and other marine animals grow, reproduce and feed. The increasing temperatures also cause significant issues for aquatic habitats, specifically coral bleaching. The need for awareness around climate change increases as time passes, and represents a critical step in combating global warming as a whole.

Once a worker knows how to file their taxes, the ugly memory of all the money he or she cannot spend haunts their wallet. By understanding where each dime finds its home, that wound might begin to heal. Three major types of income taxes exist in the U.S.: Social Security and Medicare, federal income tax and local income tax, with each serving a unique purpose.

Saturday, November 8, the NC competition cheer team headed out to Buford, Georgia, for the 2025 region competition. After placing in past events, this competition determined NC’s chances of advancing to state. With months of practice and hard work, NC’s competition cheer team placed third at region this past weekend in their region five classification.

After a rough season that featured both wins and losses, the NC varsity football team (6-3) earned its time to shine during senior night. Featuring seniors involved in sports, including sports medicine and other activities, the stands were filled to the brim with friends and family. With a unique ending score against the Etowah Eagles, the NC Warriors prepare to play on October 30 against the Wheeler Wildcats.

As fans gathered at Emory Sewell Stadium Friday, October 17, the NC varsity football Warriors (5-3) prepared to fight the Cherokee Warriors (1-8). In honor of the homecoming game, the team felt determined to revive its winning streak. The NC Warriors brought a strong win to celebrate NC’s annual homecoming, boosting morale for the exciting homecoming dance ahead.

Following a sweet celebration for its six senior members, the NC women’s varsity volleyball team (29-10) battled against the Harrison Hoyas (26-9). The adrenaline-filled match drew NC fans to the edge of their seats, but the stress culminated in a thrilling victory. For the seniors, the hard-earned win reflected the battles each fought to reach the precipice overlooking the lives they will soon enter.

As NC softball bids farewell to the graduating class of 2026, the varsity softball senior Lady Warriors reminisce on the triumphs and successes of their high school careers. After two consecutive region championships and state appearances, this class proved one of the most successful in the program's history. Whether moving on to collegiate careers or other endeavors, coaches and underclassmen alike remain proud of the class of 2026.

Featuring muddy shoes, entertaining costumes and a familiar campus, the NC Cross Country (NCXC) team staged a relay event at home during a week without a competitive race, ensuring a quality workout and bolstered team spirit. The team was organized into 23 groups, each splitting an 8,000-meter run. As the event came to a close, runners received awards and walked away with a strengthened team bond, excited for the remainder of their season.
