Before the game began, senior volleyball players enjoyed time with their teammates and loved ones, standing as an example for younger players. The night commemorating their hard work allowed the seniors to reflect on their experiences on the team. “It feels great to be a senior. It’s every freshman’s dream or goal to finally become a senior, but again it doesn’t feel real because of how things were last year,” senior varsity defensive specialist Camden Weigle said.

The NC Lady Warriors opened their 2021-2022 season against the Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs. NC junior, Jaidyn Garcia utilized hard-earned skills from tournaments in Las Vegas and Orlando, along with the support of her teammates as she led her teammates and they tenaciously held a close game against Kennesaw Mountain. “Jaidyn is one of the best right sides in the state,” NC senior 12th grade outside hitter Carson Walker said.

During the 2010s, the NC Warriors garnered a plethora of success in all sports. Competing in the GA 7A conference and a tough region, the Warriors appeared in several state championships and region championships. Atop the list featured the 2014 girl’s volleyball team winning the state championship, and many other successful teams. Mixed with high caliber student-athletes and strong coaching staff, NC developed a rich athletic history over the course of the decade.

Escorted by her parents and older brother, Tran received overwhelming recognition for her four years playing as a varsity volleyball player on Thursday night. The stands, full of Tran’s best friends enthusiastically cheered on their friend as they listened to her favorite high school memories and her aspirations for the future. Tran’s team will dearly miss one of their favorite teammates when Tran graduates this spring. “Nicole is our best passer on the team, and she is leaving behind a huge legacy to the NC volleyball program,” said junior Ivanova

Seniors say farewell to NC’s beloved volleyball program

In preparation for NC’s annual homecoming on October 19, a week full of events planned for student participation, occurs during the week of October 14 to October 18. On Tuesday October 15, a volleyball tournament open to all students takes place after school at 4:30. Teams sign up during lunch on October 2, which must include six players and a team name. “I can’t wait for this event. It’s going to be so much fun,” sophomore Eric Lu said.

Tensions ran high as students anxiously watch the cross country team compete against the football players in a game of tug a war. Senior Jayden Walker used every muscle in his body to pull the rope, and despite their diligence, the football players ultimately lost to the girls’ cross country team. Perhaps it helped that Coaches Tener, Rainey, and finally, Queen were working against their own players to the delight of the roaring crowd.

NC’s Lady Warriors defeated Wheeler’s Wildcats at their 1st State Game on Saturday, Oct. 20. Warriors finished their fall season moving into state games and walked off the court with another immense win. Lady Warriors won their 1st state game to move on to their 2nd state game, known as the “Sweet 16.” “I was so proud of the team; they really fought for the win. In each set, I think we put in immense effort. I’m sad about the season ending, but I’m proud about the way that it ended. We really did our best in that game, and I’m really gonna miss my team. I couldn’t ask for a better family,” sophomore Tristan Ash said.
