Hundreds of students in NC sat down today to take the PSAT/NMSQT test on Wednesday, October 3. NC sophomores registered for the test free of charge. However, freshmen who wanted to take the PSAT/NMSQT needed to pay an $18 fee. While also receiving practice for the SAT, students who score well enough on the PSAT may receive the National Merit Scholarship (NMSQT).

NC turns into a testing haven as underclassmen take the PSAT from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students came to school in pajamas ready to face the long test — or for those not taking the test, a long homeroom — that took up most of first and second period.

PSAT takes over NC

A number of NC freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will take the redesigned PSAT on Wednesday, October 14. The College Board announced a modified scoring, format, and content would appear on the SAT in 2016, with a preview of the modifications on the 2015 PSAT. The PSAT also qualifies participants with top tier scores for the National Merit Scholarship, which provides a full ride to any college in the United States.
