BREAKING NEWS: Cobb County schools closed for coronavirus
March 13, 2020
As of Thursday afternoon, March 12, the Cobb County School District (CCSD) issued a statement from Governor Brian Kemp on their website and Twitter.
“In light of Gov. Kemp’s advice, and with the guidance from public health organizations, we will be closing our schools effective Monday, March 16th until further notice,” Cobb County said.
The Cobb County School District closure includes any events held at the school buildings, such as sports and extracurricular activities.
Due to this rapidly evolving situation regarding the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the CCSD prioritizes the health and safety of their students, staff members and community members over all else in order to decrease the chances of this disease spreading.
The district staff prepared their students and instructed them how their lesson plans will continue to take place regardless of the news. The district and their staff reassured students and parents that school will continue to take place online with tools and materials. Students without internet access will receive resources and materials in class from their teachers prior to the closure of the schools.
The CCSD and its staff value the education of their students, and they will continue to provide the best support for their students. While at home, students and parents will receive updates by the CCSD as they make any further decisions.
