Shannon Kamau, a junior at North Cobb, enjoys reading romance novels and spending time with her younger siblings. Kamau joined The Chant to write about topics she loves such as her favorite books and musicians and student-athletes who deserve acknowledgment. When Kamau is not at school, she can be found listening to Giveon or hanging out with her friends. Kamau hopes to attend Emory University to pursue nursing.

The NC counselors put forth a lot of effort to ensure that every student feels cared for, whether that means providing them with academic help or simply conversing as friends. Concerns about the conversations they share with the counselors becoming widely known might arise among students. Because of the confidentiality that NC counselors uphold, students will always maintain a support system with NC counselors.

Every October 31, the globe celebrates Halloween, which encourages enthusiasts to wear costumes without fear of judgment. The costumes can range from traditional vampire costumes to outfits inspired by popular TV series, films or even matching duo costumes. Several noteworthy new costumes, in addition to the conventional ones, deserve special attention.

To prevent students from using their phones in class, several teachers use phone caddies or phone jails. Instead, teachers should learn to collaborate with students and utilize technology in lesson plans rather than taking students phones. Teachers can utilize numerous new apps to help push for further phone integration in classrooms.

In Early Childhood Education teacher Becky Youngs classroom, she teaches students in levels 1, 2, and 3. As soon as students enter the classroom, Young introduces them to a range of lessons on child development. Students participate in the Little Warrior Preschool (LWP) after becoming familiar with all the areas that relate to child development. By creating original ideas based on the information taught to them, students develop their leadership and creative talents.

Student-athletes face struggles and pressures that non-student athletes do not face. Athletes effectively balance sports, school work, chores and everyday activities. Student-athletes face irregular sleep schedules, decreased productivity and several other negative consequences. Despite all these challenges student-athletes still manage to persevere and continue all they do.
