The freezing thirty degree weather did not stop the music lovers of Atlanta from coming out to the free concert held in Centennial Olympic Park. Sponsored by AT&T for the 2018 College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship, the AT&T Playoff Playlist Live! Show featured a three-day concert in spirit of the nationally celebrated sporting event on January 6, 7, and 8.
On Saturday night singers Lizzo, Charlie Puth, and Jason Derulo took to the stage and took the cold breaths of the audience away. Between the headliner acts, DJ Osmosis kept the crowd dancing and singing to remixes of popular songs. Sunday night’s performances, Bebe Rexha, Spencer Ludwig, and the Chainsmokers, left the audience in awe. On Monday, gameday, Darius Rucker, Brett Young, and Kendrick Lamar provided the football fans with much needed entertainment.
Despite the event taking place in Centennial Olympic Park, which can hold up to 70,000 people, only a couple hundred people stayed through Saturday night to watch all three performers.
The crowd, bundled in hats and scarves, excitedly waited for the next performer.
Lizzo wowed the audience with her spunky outfit and killer dance moves, heating up the stage and setting the tone for the continuation of the night.
Charlie Puth, evidently not dressed for the occasion, shivered his way through his top hits “We Don’t Talk Anymore” and “Attention.” Do-gooders in the crowd threw their own hats and hand warmers at him to help warm up the chart-topper.
Charlie Puth pleased the crowd with a mixture of pop songs and songs with a more relaxed vibe.
After waiting patiently for an hour, Jason Derulo took to the stage with a troupe of talented dancers. With powerful flames emitting from the stage on beat with his music, a sleek black outfit, and perfectly coordinated dance moves, his performance spoiled the crowd. He performed a number of his newer songs, such as “Swalla,” as well as his throwback classics, such as “Talk Dirty.”
Jason Derulo’s performance featured talented dancers, taking the show from great to out-of-this-world.
The three pop singers brought together a crowd of all ages, a true melting pot of the Atlanta culture. Bundled in layers of jackets, scarves, and hats, the audience looked like a sea of dancing marshmallows.
To finish off the chilly night full of scream-singing along to songs, a firework show displayed across the Atlanta night sky.
“I loved the concert. Charlie Puth is better in person than he is on the radio, and seeing Jason Derulo live made my middle school heart fill with happiness,” concert attendee Autumn Boekeloo said.
