After an upsetting losing streak for the NC Varsity boys lacrosse team, the Warriors defeated the Dalton Catamounts Tuesday, March 10. The final score of 18-5 motivates the team to play hard for the rest of the upcoming season. The boys agree that they needed this win to drag them out of the hole and to lift their spirits.

“Winning against Dalton was finally a show of putting in hard work at practice and working together to get better. It really shows what we have been working on and towards all season, and I hope we can have more games like this,” junior captain Trenton Nolen said.

Starting out the game strong, junior Brendan Rice scored the first of 18 goals for the Warriors. Instantly pushing the team, seven more goals were made in the first quarter by juniors Reagan Mullinax and Xavier Clark and senior Ryan Getz. The second quarter consisted of goals by juniors Walker Goodsite and Mullinax and sophomore Braden Coats. At halftime, the Warriors let out a sigh of relief with the score 13- 3. Throughout the entire game, Mullinax scored seven goals against the Catamounts. This game also stood as Teacher Appreciation Night, where various teachers were recognized for their efforts and support.

During the last half of the game Goodsite racked up three more goals along with Mullinax racking up two goals as well, along with one additional goal from junior Kyle Getz. Mullinax ended the game with seven goals, the most out of the players.

“It felt really rewarding to score the most at the game because I love being able to lead the offense,” Mullinax said.

With a successful Teacher Appreciation Night and win over Dalton High School, both teachers and the boys lacrosse team ended the night triumphantly. The Warriors look forward to wins like this one and to a prosperous rest of the  season.
