Despite missing several players and coaches resulting in a loss against the Etowah Eagles, the Warrior lacrosse team gained knowledge and guidance from their unwanted outcome. They now understand where to hone skills and which positions need more drills. Overall, the team worked together, played well, and plan to continue to work harder.

The NC warriors missed a near goal as the team seemed distracted the entire time they played. They struggled to move quickly on the field before the coaches made the decision to forfeit the game due to health concerns.“I was struggling to pay attention. Honestly, I did not realize the ball was even near me until I looked up, and it was going straight at me,” said junior Elijah Sam.

On Wednesday, February 5, Kell High School and the Warrior Varsity lacrosse team played an intense scrimmage with the Longhorns coming out on top. Juniors Walker Goodsite and Trenton Nolen scored heavily contested goals, but unfortunately, in the end, the Longhorns defeated the Warriors.

With the 2020 NC lacrosse season just around the corner, the NC girls Varsity lacrosse team prepares for their season by conditioning intensely every day, Monday through Friday. After failing to make it to playoffs this year, the Lady Warriors plan to come back stronger than before thanks to new and returning players and a stronger bond as a team.

The second semester starts off with a roar of excitement preparing for the spring season sports. NC hosts their tryouts for Soccer, and Baseball this week, while Track and Field and Lacrosse plans to begin practices but become delayed due to the rainy weather. A season full of growth and positivity, this year the girls on the lacrosse team felt they grew closer to each other and to the game. “My favorite part of lacrosse is definitely all the best friends I have made from playing, and the love for the game. I will miss my teammates and the long bus rides we had together,” senior Mahogani West said.

The NC varsity boys’ lacrosse season will end after their last game against Cherokee High School on Friday, April 26. The team plans for and expects to finish out the season with a strong win against Cherokee. During this last game underclassmen will play on the field with their senior teammates for the last time.

With six yellow cards, NC gave it their all and played rough, which paid off in the end with a win. “It was a really difficult game, but everyone—especially defense—played extremely hard. There were a lot of emotions after the game watching the seniors being escorted down the field; it made the night much better,” sophomore Alyssa Curto said.

From the classroom to the field, the Lady Warriors lacrosse team will celebrate their seniors tonight at their game against Wheeler High School. “The seniors have lead us all very well, they each have a unique style for leadership but know how to revive both teams before all of our games. They pump us up and encourage us to do our best,” sophomore Molly Geraci said. The NC girls lacrosse team will celebrate each senior during their ceremony before their game tonight.
