These students have passed the county interviews and are moving on to State interviews.

Every year, the state of Georgia picks a limited number of talented sophomores and juniors from high schools across the state to attend the prestigious Governor’s Honors Program (GHP). The program takes place at Valdosta State University four weeks over the summer, and attendees explore different subject areas while making friends and connections with others who share the same passion.

The official list of the 23 students from North Cobb who passed the County interviews was released on November 12th. Each student earned the chance to become State finalists through a lengthy application process and has been working hard to perfect his or her chance at attending GHP.

Can't Get Enough?
Senior Zach Connolly (left) discusses his experiences in Valdosta with friend and fellow senior Josh Wehner. Only a handful of North Cobb students were accepted into the Governor’s Honors Program and Connolly was one of them. “It helps me learn in different ways. “It helps me by learning to communicate with people and seeing different sides, because there’s a whole diversity of people.” said Connolly.

Michael Thomas receives attention from all over Georgia for his exceptional art skills. Recently, he was featured on Tomahawk Today and has won several awards for his art. “Art is something I will always enjoy doing”, Thomas said.
