Students delved into their creative sides as they expressed their appreciation through art. Seniors Makayla Brimmage, Sally Murtadhi, and Arsheen Kour created a growing ‘rock on’ hand sign to go with their “keep calm and mop on” poster. “I love our hand, it really shows that we put a lot of time and effort into the poster and that we really wanted to make the custodians happy,” says Brimmage.

New club Humans for Humans united their efforts and created posters displaying appreciation for the Warrior custodians. Students delved into this task, applying their creativity skills and wit to create six wonderfully appealing posters.

“I was really excited for this meeting, since we were able to show our creativity while also reaching out to other students and appreciating our janitors,” said sophomore Andrea Ordonio.

During the last club meeting, junior Nabila Pranto suggested the club show appreciation towards custodians. From there, students brainstormed ideas, settling on creating appreciation posters for the school and staff to see.

“I really wanted to show appreciation towards people who don’t normally receive the appreciation they deserve. And I thought it would be great to start with the custodians and janitors, since they work incredibly hard to keep a clean and healthy learning environment,” said junior Nabila Pranto.

Humans for Humans co-presidents seniors Asheen Kour and Sally Murtadhi hope the posters motivate other Warriors to show kindness and appreciation towards the beloved custodians.

“Appreciating staff members is vital in creating a peaceful environment. When people don’t feel respected or appreciated, tension arises. A little bit of kindness goes a long way, and it’s important for people to understand this. We just want to send the message that we, as the Warrior nation, should appreciate everyone around us for what they do,” said Kour.

The club created several uniquely charming posters, each displaying a heartwarming message. Some include witty phrases such as “Keep calm and mop on,” and others simply show appreciation to the people who keep our school in top-top shape.

“I’m incredibly proud with the posters we created. We worked hard and at the end of the day, we were all just really proud of ourselves. Not many clubs go out of their way to find recycled posters and decorate them to show appreciation towards janitors. What we did was extremely self satisfying and we really hope the janitors and custodians feel appreciated,” said senior Travis Onyima.
