Taste of Marietta, an annual local food festival, transformed Marietta Square into a family friendly event on April 27.

“I look forward to Taste of Marietta every year. It has become a family tradition to come here every year,” Marietta citizen Dana Martin said.

Local citizens gathered around to celebrate Marietta’s food culture. Once they arrived, numerous tents and food trucks bombarded the city with small samples of their restaurant’s best dishes, which include chicken Florentine crepes, avocado eggrolls, and ribs.

“I love the variety this event offers it’s not just about the food, it’s about the community too. I enjoy coming home and seeing what new upcoming bands that will perform here, ” KSU sophomore Christine Mclaughlin said.

Taste of Marietta allowed locals to sample food, music, and fun. In addition to the food trucks and tents, the city also provided live performances from bands, such as The Goodbye Machine and Three Way Street. The event also offered rock wall climbing, competitions, and giveaways.

From a classic hamburger to Asian nachos and shaved iced to gourmet ice cream, Taste of Marietta provided a diverse range of cuisine. The trucks and tents also offered something for any budget, the samples ranging from $1 to $5.

Though Marietta Square’s roads remained blocked off the whole time, residents still roamed into the tent’s original stores. The tents successfully lured long lines to the store, increasing business.

“Normally, I cannot stand long lines, but the food, atmosphere, and people are definitely worth it. I love trying new things and meeting new people,” junior Travis Onyima said.

Taste of Marietta allowed local citizens to socialize and enjoy a variety of local restaurant’s samples. The live music and giveaways made this food festival exceptional.
