Tuesday, March 29 serves as the second day for NC’s Sources of Strength (SOS) week. Today’s theme, Healthy Activity Dressup encourages students, faculty and staff to characterize themselves for athletic activities while setting a positive environment for the remainder of the week. Social and physically healthy activities aid in stress relief and provide an enlightened mood. Assistant principal, Dr. Jamie Gabel takes a stand against youth suicide while also showing her school pride.

Shhhh! Varsity Cheerleaders keep quiet today October 18 for a fun tradition. They wear a football player’s jersey and only communicate between themselves to keep from getting pied at the Homecoming game. The NC students make their best efforts to entice the cheerleaders to speak. Any student who can achieve the task holds the honor of pushing a pie into the cheerleader’s face.

NC’s halls fill with VSCO girls, e-girls, and clowns as students commemorate TikTok/meme day and celebrate the second day of 2019’s Homecoming week. Eager to show off their warrior spirit, nearly every NC student carries Hydro Flasks and scrunchies and wear golden chains to dress up as their favorite TikTok or meme contributing to Homecoming’s spirit week.

In preparation for NC’s annual homecoming on October 19, a week full of events planned for student participation, occurs during the week of October 14 to October 18. On Tuesday October 15, a volleyball tournament open to all students takes place after school at 4:30. Teams sign up during lunch on October 2, which must include six players and a team name. “I can’t wait for this event. It’s going to be so much fun,” sophomore Eric Lu said.

Students arrived early in the evening to claim their spots on the field for Screen on the Green. The lighting from the setting sun drew audience members to capture the perfect pictures, while others just kicked back and relaxed as the night approached.
