Today, Thursday May 17, a cow truck tipped over on I-75. 19 cows were released during the crash, and 7 of the 19 died. The highway was closed off in order to keep cows contained and capture them. “ I had a cow when I realized how long it was going to take me to get to work,” said Amy Maxwell.

An enhanced version of NC’s Malfunction Junction roundabout stands strong in the center of the intersection. Mr. Cogbill, NC’s engineering teacher, and his students developed this idea in the hopes of easing the flow of traffic, however it may be doing the opposite. “I’m not sure how I feel about the roundabout. At first, it seemed like a phenomenal idea, but I don’t think it’s living up to its expectations,” says sophomore Blake Williams.

Blue arrow-shaped tape covers the floor of Malfunction Junction with a trash bin in the center. The newly set-up round-about designed to help ease traffic perplexed NC students. “We’ve been working on lots of different solution for a few weeks, and you’ll see several different possible solutions for this problem. So, there were kids that are in a mentorship programs that have gotten together with people in business and have gone over how people deal with traffic flow,” said Adam Cogbill, teacher of Engineering and Technology. The collection of data from the success of their designed solutions will act as a test for students in the class.

Parking inconveniences forces students to find any spot to put their car, whether it be a parking space or not. NC’s new construction project leads to a shutdown of the second student lot and over 20 designated student spaces occupied by staff, causing daily chaos in the student parking lot.
