The quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles, Jalen Hurts (1), plans to implement his program Healed by Hurts (HBH) into numerous high school football programs across the country. The 24-year-old sets out to improve the technique and health regimens of young players in order to shape them for professional careers. “With Healed by Hurts, my goal is to make these kids into better players, which will in turn make them better equipped for the real world,” Hurts said.

In the aftermath of a disappointing loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football League’s (NFL) Super Bowl LVII, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (1) aims to accomplish a series of outreach projects for high school football teams across the country called, Healing with Hurts (HBH). His first target resides in the heart of Kennesaw, where Hurts plans on flying down to Georgia to play ball with the NC Warriors. With his professional experience and hard-earned wisdom, Hurts hopes to inspire the young men of NC’s football program through the sport they all share a common fondness for.

“Football is my life. It has made me who I am, and I am incredibly fortunate for all of the opportunities it has given me. I am truly blessed. Through these projects, my team and I hope to encourage these young players to go about the sport in a way that gives back to their communities,” Hurts said.

Two words describe Hurts’ plan for his high school initiative: simple and effective. Over the course of six weeks, he intends to alter the way football students eat, sleep and most importantly play. First, students must adhere to a slew of sponsored meals from various companies of Hurts choosing, such as Prime Hydration and Dr. Praeger’s frozen meals. At the beginning of the month and half program, students also receive a playbook ubiquitous with techniques and tips that Hurts has acquired over his time in the league.

The plan additionally features several videos and in-person visits from various other players within the NFL, such as TJ Watt (90) from the Pittsburgh Steelers, Joe Burrow (9) from the Cincinnati Bengals, and Russell Wilson (3) from the Denver Broncos. Representatives of HBH claim that the quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes (15), declined any potential involvement in the initiative.

“ I am upset that [Patrick] Mahomes won’t be involved in Healed by Hurts. It would have been great to see two of the best modern quarterbacks in the game teach students how to improve their football skills,” magnet sophomore Livie Duby said.

Hurts hopes to begin implementing HBH within the next three months, with representatives claiming the ideal time as May of 2023. All members of the NC football family excitedly wait for Hurts’ arrival.
