Small businesses mirror the essence of a community, bringing a town to life and providing intimate and matchless experiences. This podcast explores the importance and charm of local restaurants, beginning with Kennesaw’s own Lazy Labrador. Serving as a spot to meet loved ones, study and enjoy a cozy cup o’ joe, the values, customer perspective, and differences from big franchises is discussed through interviews and polls.

To promote holiday cheer and spread their love for Jesus, NC’s Collective Hope (CHC) Bible study club hosted a Christmas service project. On a chilly competition day, the NC marching band (NCMB) prepared to share their competitive show: “Make Your Mark.” Starting the day strong with rehearsal before the competition, the marching band reviewed important sets within the show to perfect their every move. To cap off the night, NCMB received myriad accolades for its excellence against numerous other bands in Georgia.

Each year, the NC Magnet Ambassador Program hosts a movie night with upperclassmen ambassadors and freshmen to promote friendship between grade levels. This year, the students watched “Inside Out 2” in the school’s film room, providing attendees a sweet and fun experience. The program hopes to create bonds between ambassadors and their freshmen, and the movie night achieved that goal with astounding success.

For juniors who feel stressed picking classes for their last year of high school, Honors Advanced Composition represents the ideal choice for literature lovers. Offering two English credits, Honors Advanced Comp., also known as Dramatic Writing, allows students to unveil their creative minds. While this class may seem a hidden gem in NC’s course catalog, seniors should request this course for their final year to prepare for the world of creative writing outside of high school.

Senior National Honors Society (NHS) students hosted the first-ever Trunk or Treat event at NC Friday, October 25. With each NHS group dressed according to a different theme, students decorated their car trunks and engaged in exciting Halloween activities. While family and friends attended throughout the 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. time period in their best costumes, NHS students bonded and served their community.

A fresh recruit on The Chant, junior and journalist Cassidy Lumpkin enthusiastically looks forward to participating in informing her community of real-world ideas and issues while advocating for her voice and others. Her writing journey started early— as a kid she proudly earned the “Most Likely to Become An Author” superlative in fifth grade. Since then, Lumpkin’s writing has expanded to worlds such as fantasy, poetry, research, speeches, and Bible devotionals. Outside of her studies, Lumpkin involves herself in NC Cross Country, Greenhouse Gang, Relay for Life, Beta Club, and her church’s Youth Family, design team, and daycare. An indecisive individual, Lumpkin’s pastimes vary between reading, watching cheesy rom coms, art (especially ceramics at NC), embroidering, listening to music, thrifting, and scrolling to the end of Pinterest. Lumpkin strongly values authenticity, human rights, love, and being unapologetically herself.
