Black History Month represents a time to recognize and celebrate the achievements of African Americans throughout the U.S.’s history. This month encourages students to learn about the rich cultural heritage and historical impact of African Americans and to honor their lasting views that shape the world’s future. Black individuals around the world continue to pave the way for young minds, leaving a lasting impact on the youth of today.

April 7, 8 and 9, 2026, NC’s unbelievably talented theatre program performed their final musical of the year. “Drowsy Chaperone,” a comedic musical with slightly melancholic undertones, fit the cast and crew perfectly. While the performance went swimmingly, seniors grappled after the fact with the realization that this would stand as their final performance with the NC thespians. After just five weeks to rehearse, the performers put on a show that left the audience wheezing.

With summer break approaching at lightning speed, NC students scramble to finish their last assignments and study for end-of-course tests. Several thoughts linger on the minds of thousands of high schoolers all throughout the country, all revolving around their favorite sunny day activities. As the 2026 school year nears its end, bucket lists flood with new ideas and Pinterest boards fill with pictures of sunsets, pool days and fun crafts as each student ponders their ideal summer days.
NC Answers: Favorite summer activity
A gnarly, high-energy set under a desert moon pushed Katseye into the spotlight as the group’s choreography, vocals and stage presence pulled the audience’s attention at Coachella. Questions around live delivery and crowd impact kept the conversation moving long after the set ended. The performance marked a defining moment as the group stepped onto a global stage and shaped how new audiences viewed their presence moving forward.

Life after school brings different challenges for every student, whether it's band, sports or clubs, each group handles busy days and late nights in its own way. Still, the work pays off through friendships and stand-out moments that make the most of each day.
After School Activities
Small businesses mirror the essence of a community, bringing a town to life and providing intimate and matchless experiences. This podcast explores the importance and charm of local restaurants, beginning with Kennesaw’s own Lazy Labrador. Serving as a spot to meet loved ones, study and enjoy a cozy cup o’ joe, the values, customer perspective, and differences from big franchises is discussed through interviews and polls.
Taste of Home
Known for their Friday night, halftime performances, the NC Color Guard fills the stands with enthusiasm and passion. The members spend hours in advance before performances applying makeup and styling hair. As the game continues, the camaraderie among the team shines through as they celebrate each other's achievements. As they dance to stand tunes, the guard’s radiant energy fills the atmosphere, creating an unforgettable football game.

The Senior Carnival provided friendly competition allowing seniors to come together, joust one another, and see who would remain as the last one standing To start the joust, competitors stood on the elevated platforms and whacked one another, which became a popular game among the seniors. “I say NC is getting better and better every year. I hope this carries on in the years to come, especially with Mr. Moody as the principal,” senior Nico Eastep said.
Senior Day 2019
Concluding its five-stop tour around art museums in North America, Yayoi Kusama’s “Infinity Mirrors” exhibit ended at Atlanta’s High Museum of Art on February 17, 2019. Stepping off the elevator and into the exhibit, visitors came face-to-face with an eye-catching sculpture garden of uniquely-shaped objects in front of multiple canvases of vibrant paintings. From start to finish, the sculptures and paintings left art-lovers inspired and in awe.

Taylor Morrow is a junior at NC and continues her journalism journey as  Media Editor this year. Morrow joined The Chant to branch out of her comfort zone and meet new people. She believes joining this class will have a lasting impact on her future. Morrow’s writing experience has improved as she usually writes fantasies and fictional stories. She typically writes about a day in the life of characters who have non-human-like powers and abilities. Morrow has four siblings and is the second oldest of her siblings. Along with watching some of her favorite TV shows, Morrow also enjoys thrifting. This year, Morrow is excited to help grow The Chant and get to know new staffers.
