This podcast explores the importance and charm of local restaurants, beginning with Kennesaw’s own Lazy Labrador. Serving as a spot to meet loved ones, study and enjoy a cozy cup o’ joe, the values, customer perspective, and differences from big franchises is discussed through interviews and polls.

Amidst her final year on the NCXC team, magnet senior Kennedi Tolbert reflects on her final meets. Inspired by her friend Grade Amah, Tolbert joined the cross country team her freshman year and has since bloomed as a runner by increasing her endurance and speed. Shields joined the team her freshman year in hopes of increasing her stamina, and she has worked since to enhance her endurance and passion for running. Shields hopes to utilize the skills she has learned in her future as she progresses into her final year on the NC XC team.

After weeks of rehearsals and non-stop script memorization, NC’s Theater department showcased their dedication in their 2025 One Act production of “The Great Gatsby.” With two shows already in the books, actors, tech crew and fans gathered together again Friday, October 24, for another run of this year’s One Act. Now, as NC’s theatre department closes this chapter of “The Great Gatsby,” the cast and crew will freeze the memories created during the production of the award-winning play and reminisce on the sweet friendships that carried them through the blood, sweat and tears.

The extraordinary life of Jane Goodall and her contributions improved the world by shining light on animal welfare and climate change, impacting all living creatures. Her scientific discoveries, particularly involving her studies with apes, changed the way scientists view sentience and continued to pave the way for women in science. The importance of climate change and preserving animal habitats frequently flies under the radar, but Goodall's clear passion for sustainability inspired millions to follow in her footsteps and work collaboratively to cultivate a brighter future.

A major humanitarian crisis — partially caused by the violence in residential areas — persists as one of the worst in modern history. As the war drags on, healthcare workers continue to risk their lives providing vital aid to those in desperate need and show the world that even in the face of immense danger and destruction, human compassion and empathy can endure.

The record-breaking government shutdown continues to brew negative sentiments amongst furloughed federal employees. Similarly, protests in major U.S. cities also witness unprecedented attendance as citizens unite to voice their frustrations on the streets, calling for governmental reform. Demonstrations call for reforms within the Trump Administration, declaring that the president resembles a monarch instead of a true democratic leader.

For the first time in history, Japan presents a female prime minister, Sanae Takaichi. As she settles into office, she receives multiple responses from divided critics due to her personal beliefs on sensitive topics such as same-sex marriages and women keeping their maiden names. As her first order of business, she hopes to enforce stricter border controls and policies on immigration.

While each city and county included its own special questions on the ballot, residents across the state joined hands to vote on two seats in the Georgia Public Service Commission race. The following morning, the results revealed an electorate eager for new faces in politics: The two previously Republican-held seats had flipped blue.

Leaping into her senior year, Cassidy Lumpkin serves The Chant as a page editor, aiming to inform her community of real-world ideas and issues while advocating for her own and others’ voices. Lumpkin especially enjoys reporting on small businesses, NC news and political affairs, valuing the importance of both community and worldwide ordeals. Outside of her studies, Lumpkin involves herself in NC Cross Country, theatre, Greenhouse Gang, Relay for Life, Beta Club, National Honor Society and church activities.
