Amidst her final year on the NCXC team, magnet senior Kennedi Tolbert reflects on her final meets. Inspired by her friend Grade Amah, Tolbert joined the cross country team her freshman year and has since bloomed as a runner by increasing her endurance and speed. As she finishes out the 2026 season, Tobert hopes to leave a lasting impact on the NCXC team.

Shields joined the team her freshman year in hopes of increasing her stamina, and she has worked since to enhance her endurance and passion for running. Shields hopes to utilize the skills she has learned in her future as she progresses into her final year on the NC XC team.

Citlalli Vela, a magnet senior, joined The Chant’s Media Team to pursue her artistry. As a little kid, she used drawing to portray her emotions and the current fandoms she obsessed over. Today, she designs logos for organizations around NC such as NC Rally, magnet, and the website Github. After school, Vela spins with the NC Color Guard and is President of the Greenhouse Gang. She enjoys horror movies, scrapbooking, music, shopping, and mindlessly scrolling the Internet. Taylor Morrow is a junior at NC and continues her journalism journey as  Media Editor this year. Morrow joined The Chant to branch out of her comfort zone and meet new people. She believes joining this class will have a lasting impact on her future. Morrow’s writing experience has improved as she usually writes fantasies and fictional stories. She typically writes about a day in the life of characters who have non-human-like powers and abilities. Morrow has four siblings and is the second oldest of her siblings. Along with watching some of her favorite TV shows, Morrow also enjoys thrifting. This year, Morrow is excited to help grow The Chant and get to know new staffers.
