“From my personal experience, I believe dogs are the best companion to have honestly. Dogs are loyal, goofy, supportive, energetic, and that’s why I love them so much. Stereotypically I think of a cat lady surrounded by a bunch of cats, taking care of them her whole life,” sophomore Dynaria Stith said.
An additional common factor for cat hate constitutes an extensive chunk of the population who report allergies related to cats. People with cat allergies may even justify their cat hate for a bodily trigger of cat dander, which encourages their prickly relationship with felines. When it comes to cat personality traits, people claim that they continue to show fickle and aloof characteristics, similar to those of their human housemates. Due to the amount of affection dog lovers seek out, cats’ personalities become a hurdle. The stereotypical idea of cats’ incapability of tameness clashes with the personality of people who want to stay in control of them.
Dog people argue that cats do not bear any beneficial characteristics, but the fact remains that cat aficionados emerge as calmer and mellow people, which leads to an optimal relationship between the two. “I love both [cats and dogs] but I am biased with cats because I have been around at least 20 cats in my life. I think they are just insanely smart creatures, and as much as they seem like they don’t care, they do, and intuitively. As well [they are] super cute and cuddly. I believe dog people are more energetic and confident and cat people give off a more quiet vibe,” sophomore Skyler Williams said.
At the end of the day, cats face constant criticism and hate that remains unnecessary. Dog lovers continue to blame the hate they direct towards cats for a multitude of reasons including cats’ personalities and allergens. Ultimately, cats possess a considerable amount of qualities such as their gap of independence from dogs, which serves as one of the reasons why they remain superior.
