December 4, NC’s varsity football team (11-1) added another successful committed athlete to its roster as senior cornerback and wide receiver Sincere Cyrill (1) officially signed to Elon University to continue his passion for the sport. Cyrill, three teammates — senior middle guard Kamron Cullins (8), senior outside linebacker Jason Grier (9) and senior defensive end Domonic Moody (55) — and senior and resident track and field runner Keira Beaumont celebrated their commitment to collegiate athletics alongside their friends, family and NC staff.
Cyrill grew up playing sports, and football always fulfilled his love to play. From forming numerous friendships to learning new skills, the sport provided an outlet for Cyrill to channel energy and passion into, as well as a family-like bond on the field. He displays versatility in his talent, as he has played both cornerback and safety positions, but his current position remains his favorite. The opportunity to grow as a player and enjoy the game drives Cyrill to admire the sport, which his commitment has reinforced.
“I’ve been playing sports since I was eight years old. I love the community, the fan base and the excitement when playing. I played seven on seven outside of NC, I played corner and safety. My favorite is probably corner. You get to learn something new and get different experiences every time you step on the field,” Cyrill said.
His devotion to football impacts his life in numerous positive ways, such as his time commitment. In the offseason, Cyrill consistently trains and works out to maintain the strength and stamina needed for playing. Through various routines, his time revolves around maturing as a player to always present his highest performance. Cyrill even plays numerous online video games due to his love for the sport.
“In my free time I like playing 2K and College Football. In the off season I’m really just grinding and training. [I get] ready for the following season the next year, just trying to be better in every way,” Cyrill said.
This commitment to the sport furthermore reaffirms Cyrill’s reason for signing. He will attend Elon University in Elon, North Carolina to hopefully start on the team. Not only does this university provide the high school athlete with Division One National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) playing experience, but it also continues that familial relationship Cyrill desires. He aims to major in Sports Management and one day work in Broadcasting.
“I chose the program because it’s really community based. I knew the coaches for a while, since I was in middle school, and they’ve seen me develop, so they gave me a chance and I’m betting on myself to go and start as a freshman. I’m majoring in Sports Management to be a Sports Analyst in Broadcasting. Hopefully to take that in different routes like being on television, announcing, and different things like that,” Cyrill said.
The Chant congratulates Cyrill on all his achievements and cannot wait to see where college football takes him. Go Phoenixes!
