Popular pop–country singer-songwriter Megan Moroney released her third studio album, “Cloud 9,” February 20, 2026. The album contains 15 songs, all surrounding the theme of happiness and optimism, along with the subtle fear of falling deeply in love. The album rapidly increased in popularity after its release, earning first place on the U.S. albums chart March 2.
Each of Moroney’s albums follows a colored theme to represent the emotions fueling the musical productions. Her first album, “Lucky,” paints itself in a light green color with a signature four-leafed clover. Moroney’s second album, “Am I Okay?,” follows a navy blue color theme to showcase the sad and emotional moments she lyricizes. “Cloud 9” shows off pink, pastel tones in music videos and cover art, representing the hopeless romanticism that Moroney expresses through the lyrics. The shift from green to blue to pastel pink themes allows each album to feel significantly different from the last.
“I like her music so much. I’m seeing her in concert in July with my cousin because my cousin is a really big fan of hers. The new album she made is pretty good; it’s different from her old albums. The music is similar but stronger, like you really see her becoming a brand instead of an underground artist. I like the song ‘Medicine’ because I like the guitar part in it,” magnet junior Durelle Huang said.
Unlike a handful of other artists, Moroney grew up simply, only rising to fame at 24-years-old after her hit “Tennessee Orange” was released, allowing her fans to follow the changes she experienced as she grew as an artist. This album stands out from the previous collections significantly, as it features incredibly popular artists. With Ed Sheeran on the track “I Only Miss You” and Kacey Musgraves on the track “Bells & Whistles,” Moroney’s prominence in the country music sphere continues to grow.
To celebrate the new chapter in Moroney’s life, she chose to create a “fan-focused” tour. Moroney announced on social media that she would visit nine cities in nine days to perform her songs. Following the usage of the number nine in her music, each ticket only cost $9, to which fans responded with joy and excitement, waiting ecstatically for Moroney to arrive in their city.
“I heard about the album because I follow Megan Moroney on Instagram. I like it, I don’t think it’s her best album out of all of the other ones she made, but it’s still very good. My favorite song on the album would have to be “Cloud 9,” and I think it might be the most popular song on the album,” magnet junior Elise Gallant said.
Moroney’s incline in popularity marked a particularly special moment in the history of country music. As “Cloud 9” reached number one on the album chart, Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” claimed first place for a song on the Billboard Hot 100. Both artists publicly celebrated their wins on social media, and this event remained the first time that two women ruled the country music charts simultaneously.
With the album’s sparkling success, the Georgia-based singer plans to embark on an arena tour beginning May 29, 2026, and lasting through October 1, 2026. This tour will occur internationally, with Moroney performing in North America, Europe and the U.K., fulfilling the hearts of her fans across the globe. With over 40 days of performances, Moroney continues to stay active on social media by posting about the shows consistently and cultivating an awestruck audience.
