Andrew Gasparini is thrilled to be making his final lap as a senior at North Cobb.

As an aspiring educator, he associates great value with being an active member in the community. He keeps himself busy with his many roles here at North Cobb: President of the Spanish Club, Leadership of Model UN, Community Service Chair in NHS, and Chick-fil-A biscuit hookup.

Walking through the hallways of North Cobb during a class change, Andrew receives many smiles of gratitude from both his peers and teachers for all of the time he has dedicated to a community that he loves.  Andrew’s friends share that beneath all of the sarcasm and ‘Mean Thursdays’ he has a heart of gold that never fails to make the people around him smile and laugh harder than ever before.

As Captain of the North Cobb Cross Country Team, Andrew lives for the 5:00 A.M. wake-up calls each Saturday of the Fall Semester for meets. When the Magnet Program leaves him in need of a ‘distresser’, Gasparini’s go-to’s, including: his spearmint candle, going for a run to relieve the mind, or catching a movie with a friend. Andrew attributes credit for the witty, kind-hearted, and driven young man that he is today to: his parents, Roxy (Andrew’s cat), supportive friends, teachers, and the youth group at his church where he is a member of the choir.

Andrew is looking forward to seeing what his last semester of high school at NC holds in store for him, including all the skills he will gain being a photographer and reporter for The Chant.

Media Specialist Lisa Wheeler helps a student checkout a book from the library. “I grew up in the Emory University library because both my parents taught there, so I grew up around books and research. I wanted to stick with that because I missed it. My favorite part is helping people, especially the kids who want to find a book and don’t know what to look for, so recommending something they end up loving. Making up 20% of their class’s weight, students bank on a good score to boost or maintain a high grade. “It was a lot easier than material we have learned in class, and I hope tomorrow goes as smoothly as it did today,” senior Michael Vollbracht said.

The newly set-up round-about designed to help ease traffic perplexed NC students. “We’ve been working on lots of different solution for a few weeks, and you’ll see several different possible solutions for this problem. So, there were kids that are in a mentorship programs that have gotten together with people in business and have gone over how people deal with traffic flow,” said Adam Cogbill, teacher of Engineering and Technology. Junior Julianna Isbitts and Senior Zac Mullinax reminisce about this past weekend at the ninth annual University of Alabama Model UN Conference. North Cobb took 12 students and left the conference with seven awards. “[My partner and I] passed some awesome resolutions to solve the problem of ecological refugees, and we ended up winning our committee,” Isbitts said.
