In downtown Acworth, Pearl’s Spa creates a relaxing environment for its clients. Owner Susan McElvey took over the spa in 2021 and recently renovated the business for clients’ pleasure. The renovation kept the historic personality of the building while adding the appearance of a cozy and comfortable spa. The therapists and aestheticians who work at the spa strive to create a calm and relaxing environment, allowing anyone who walks through their doors to feel welcomed.

NC junior Imani Wilson and sophomore Aubrey McPherson work as Scoops employees on the weekends. Students and their families in Downtown Acworth frequently visit Scoops for their delicious array of ice cream flavors available. “It is really fun [working with people from school] because we get to relate on different topics all the time. When we’re at school we can also talk about work, and it is easy because if we see each other at school and we need to change shifts, instead of texting each other it’s a lot easier [to talk to each other at school],” McPherson says.

Business opportunities in downtown Acworth allow various entrepreneurs to create their brands and new enterprise. Since Acworth stands as a popular area fairly close to Atlanta, larger numbers of attractions keep all places in business. “Before I had opened a storefront, I was selling at both juried and non-juried craft events for many years. Star Stuff has been open now for three years in Acworth, and it has been a great experience to share my handmade jewelry and crafts with the community,” Star Stuff owner Deb Currans said.
