The duties of older siblings remain unappreciated, and with these responsibilities, they grow up to become dependable for the sake of their family members. This occurs due to the consequences of inexperienced parents who focus on all areas of parental care for the firstborn. Firstborn children tend to appear naturally drawn to becoming overachievers and perfectionists. Not only that, they serve as a role model for younger siblings since they must take additional precautions against their mistakes for the sake of their younger siblings.

Reminiscing on the class of 2017-2018, older siblings left behind large shoes to fill for those younger. “It is stressful to think about living up to expectations that you do not necessarily have control over, but as long as you work hard in whatever you do, I think that a last name does not define you,” sophomore Molly Geraci said.
