NC dominated all facets of the game and silenced the state’s leading passer senior Kyle Banks en route to a 42-14 varsity football victory over the North Paulding Wolfpack on Friday night.

“I’m very proud of our effort. This is the first time in school history we’ve made the playoffs four consecutive years,” Coach Queen said after the win.

Senior running back Bryce Perryman ran for 119 yards, 77 of them coming on the first play from scrimmage as he took the handoff and scampered to begin the first-half scoring barrage. Perryman scored his second touchdown on the next drive, from the five-yard line to give NC a 14-0 lead.

Senior quarterback Tyler Queen threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns, two of which coming in the first half, hitting junior receiver D.J. Render and Senior receiver Jordan McCray for 33 and 42-yard touchdown passes, respectively. Perryman then added one more score on the ground to give the Warriors a 35-0 halftime lead.

Junior cornerback Gilbert Blow forced a fumble on the one-yard line to preserve the first-half shutout, and senior cornerback DeVaughn Harris and junior linebacker Cale Reid each had an interception, highlighting the defensive efforts.

“It was a surreal moment since I’m not known for having the best hands. I will definitely never forget it,” Reid said regarding his first varsity interception.

Banks threw two touchdown passes in the third quarter to bring the Wolfpack closer, but North Cobb’s offense responded and put the game out of reach.

Queen connected with Render for a second touchdown in the third quarter, and sophomore running back C.J. Cole rumbled for a one-yard score cappping the Warrior outburst at 49 points.

“That goes to show what happens when you wake a sleeping giant. We don’t talk, we just play,” Reid said.
