Famous popstar Taylor Swift debuted her Eras Tour starting March 17, 2023. This tour compiles Swift’s entire discography into a three-hour concert. Including several costume changes, setting changes and backup dancers, this production does not fail to entertain attendees. Swift played around 40 songs ranging from her earlier albums to her latest released album, “Midnights”.

Pop sensation Taylor Swift begins her new tour— the Eras Tour—March 17, inviting fans to join her celebration concert of all her albums combined. These ten distinct albums, often referred to as her eras, show her journey throughout her whopping 17 years of music production. Swift fans, also known as “Swifties,” look forward to this long-awaited tour, and cannot wait to finally see Swift back on stage.

Originally set to finish off her “Lover Fest” tour, named after the album “Lover” in April of 2020, Swift, unfortunately, postponed the remaining dates of the tour due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The singer already performed 7 of the 10 shows for her Europe portion of the tour, when Covid-19 restrictions arose and the singer officially canceled the rest of the tour. Since then, Swift released six albums during Covid, including her most recent album, “Midnights”, which broke records after its release October 21, 2022.

Swift’s old management company, Big Machine Records, has produced the singer’s music since 2005 when she just turned 15 years old. In 2018, she left the company after publicly finding out about a $300 million deal one of the main managers for the label, Scooter Braun, made to sell the singer’s masters after he signed on as an executive with Big Machine.

Since then, Swift re-recorded two of her old albums, “Fearless” and “Red”, owned by Braun, and added her own personal touch at the end of the album titles known as “Taylor’s-Version.” In these re-recorded albums, along with the original songs, came “From the Vault” songs which were never released with the albums. Within the re-recordings and four completely new albums all owned by Swift, fans continue to appreciate and show support to the singer for claiming the songs she deserves to own. In fact, prior to the opening night of the Eras Tour, Swift released one new previously leaked song and three new re-recordings. These unexpected releases stunned fans which left fans hopeful for future “Taylor’s-Version” albums.

“I think it [the tour] is an amazing opportunity for Taylor to not only show her tremendous skill but also her determination and dedication to her fans. I’m sure fans are excited about the Eras tour because they get to watch that subculture and their community be elevated,” magnet junior vice president Bianca Orflia-Molinet said.

When tickets were first released for the Eras tour presale in November 2022, a scandal occurred with Ticketmaster, causing several Swifties to become unable to buy tickets. After several hours of glitches and unsuccessful attempts to buy tickets, the inability to attend the concert haunted numerous devoted fans. Those that ended up with tickets now await the date of their concert spanning from March 17 to August 9 of 2023.

Several of the concert attendees decided to hand-make their outfits and costumes, or meticulously create a detailed ensemble to wear. The amount of effort put into the fashion design for the sole purpose of looking and feeling one’s best reflects on the night of the concert. A commonly seen trend in the attire for the show represents favorite albums or a mixture of symbols, quotes and colors on the outfits.

The first leg of the Eras Tour begins in the U.S., starting in Arizona and ending in California. Yet, international tour dates remain unreleased. Various other singers will open for the tour such as Phoebe Bridgers, beabadobee, Gracie Abrams and Paramore. Fans can enjoy the music of other artists they enjoy, or find some enjoyment in new music they do not know.

“I’m excited to see my favorite songs live and sing along with so many fans. I can’t wait to witness Taylor in person and hear her amazing vocals and performances that she remixes or tweaks up when performing live,” sophomore Tessa Saunders said.

Knowing her all too well, fans already picked up on a couple of clues during the first two shows of the tour, that they believe lead to Swift’s next project, a potential re-recording. After over a decade of albums, controversies and tours, Swifties remain enchanted by the singer and all of her talent that shows in her work and cannot wait to see the mastermind continue to shine bigger than the whole sky, in her new era.
