This month encourages students to learn about the rich cultural heritage and historical impact of African Americans and to honor their lasting views that shape the world’s future. Black individuals around the world continue to pave the way for young minds, leaving a lasting impact on the youth of today.

Known for their Friday night, halftime performances, the NC Color Guard fills the stands with enthusiasm and passion. The members spend hours in advance before performances applying makeup and styling hair. As the game continues, the camaraderie among the team shines through as they celebrate each other's achievements. As they dance to stand tunes, the guard’s radiant energy fills the atmosphere, creating an unforgettable football game.

The Senior Carnival provided friendly competition allowing seniors to come together, joust one another, and see who would remain as the last one standing To start the joust, competitors stood on the elevated platforms and whacked one another, which became a popular game among the seniors. “I say NC is getting better and better every year. I hope this carries on in the years to come, especially with Mr. Moody as the principal,” senior Nico Eastep said.

Concluding its five-stop tour around art museums in North America, Yayoi Kusama’s “Infinity Mirrors” exhibit ended at Atlanta’s High Museum of Art on February 17, 2019. Stepping off the elevator and into the exhibit, visitors came face-to-face with an eye-catching sculpture garden of uniquely-shaped objects in front of multiple canvases of vibrant paintings. From start to finish, the sculptures and paintings left art-lovers inspired and in awe.

Taylor Morrow is a sophomore at NC. She joined The Chant because she is trying to branch out of her comfort zone and meet new people. She believes joining this class will have a lasting impact on her and her future. Morrow’s writing experience is pretty short, but she usually writes fantasies and fictional stories. These stories usually have characters who have non-human-like powers and abilities. Typically, she writes about a day in the life of these characters. Morrow has four siblings, and the second oldest is a junior at NC. Along with watching some of her favorite TV shows, thrifting is another activity she enjoys.
