Established in 2014, United Sound’s mission entails allowing children with special needs the opportunity to create music. United Sound helps children in all ranges of the spectrum to excel at both basic rhythm and melody skills, while also providing a fun and engaging experience for all students. United Sound contributes to NC’s community and enhances the students’ learning abilities through music.

Calculus teacher, friend and mentor Deepa Stephen shines brightly for NC students and staff alike. Through her dedication to helping pupils and her involvement in growing students’ spiritual standing, Stephen prepares scholars for the real world, readying them with necessary life skills. To showcase her superb mentorship, Stephen also earned the “Teacher of the Year” title from her colleagues, along with a STAR student recognition.

As a first-year staff member, magnet senior Kassidy Brown intends to make a big impact during her time with The Chant. Brown plans to make long-lasting memories through her lens and bring the community closer with her love for media. After hanging up her jersey last year on her high school volleyball team, she hopes to find a new way to incorporate her love for the sport and media as a member of The Chant. As social media manager for Bridge the Gap, vice president of United Sound, and president of Food for Thought, she plans to use her camera to capture the amazing organizations and athletics at NC. Outside of The Chant, Brown enjoys playing volleyball, taking pictures, singing and hanging out with friends.
