April 7, 8 and 9, 2026, NC’s unbelievably talented theatre program performed their final musical of the year. “Drowsy Chaperone,” a comedic musical with slightly melancholic undertones, fit the cast and crew perfectly. While the performance went swimmingly, seniors grappled after the fact with the realization that this would stand as their final performance with the NC thespians. After just five weeks to rehearse, the performers put on a show that left the audience wheezing.

With summer break approaching at lightning speed, NC students scramble to finish their last assignments and study for end-of-course tests. Several thoughts linger on the minds of thousands of high schoolers all throughout the country, all revolving around their favorite sunny day activities. As the 2026 school year nears its end, bucket lists flood with new ideas and Pinterest boards fill with pictures of sunsets, pool days and fun crafts as each student ponders their ideal summer days.
NC Answers: Favorite summer activity
A gnarly, high-energy set under a desert moon pushed Katseye into the spotlight as the group’s choreography, vocals and stage presence pulled the audience’s attention at Coachella. Questions around live delivery and crowd impact kept the conversation moving long after the set ended. The performance marked a defining moment as the group stepped onto a global stage and shaped how new audiences viewed their presence moving forward.

As May quickly approaches, NC’s seniors feel the effects of the dreaded senioritis. Though the affliction certainly leaves grades to tank and attendance to stumble, senioritis proves itself as a useful tool for redirecting energy. Though students neglect school, they re-center friendship, fun and future planning.

Although beauty standards evolve, the authentic faces and historical aesthetics actors emulate stay suspended in amber. Actors have sculpted and refined their faces in ways that date their appearances to the modern era. Polished and plastic features strip away the convincingness of period pieces, distracting viewers from the whimsical worlds of the past.

Although it might seem simple, the process of building an outfit each day promises both the experience and benefits of creating art. The minute details in hair styling, accessorizing and layering come together to communicate the wearer’s mood, attitude or interests. As a result of this silent communication, style shifts into a deeply important tool for self-expression.

In previous weeks, Timothée Chalamet showed blatant disrespect toward opera and ballet through an offhand remark during a Variety interview. Chalamet does not hide the fact that he desires to hold legendary status as an actor, but this possibility now becomes slim. Chalamet shows a significant deficit of a person deserving of legendary actor status. His lack of respect toward forms of art that directly inspire his work demonstrates why Chalamet cannot achieve notable status. While a select group of people may argue that nobody cares about opera and ballet, that does not demonstrate the whole picture regarding these art forms.

Starting his first year on The Chant, Wyatt Toth, a junior at NC, joins the crew as a member of the Media Team. Toth hones his craft and is passionate about all things art. His latest escapade has been learning about music production over the summer. Outside of school, Toth enjoys watching chick flicks, finding niche music artists and eating carb-filled foods.
