For nearly the entire teenage population, listening to music remains a popular way to destress and self-express. Among the NC population, thousands of individuals exemplify a passion for both listening to and creating artistic sound. Students at NC pick their favorite albums and artists, from Tyler, the Creator to Lucki, and each musical performer shows students’ personalities.

While the performance went swimmingly, seniors grappled after the fact with the realization that this would stand as their final performance with the NC thespians. After just five weeks to rehearse, the performers put on a show that left the audience wheezing.

With summer break approaching at lightning speed, NC students scramble to finish their last assignments and study for end-of-course tests. Several thoughts linger on the minds of thousands of high schoolers all throughout the country, all revolving around their favorite sunny day activities. As the 2026 school year nears its end, bucket lists flood with new ideas and Pinterest boards fill with pictures of sunsets, pool days and fun crafts as each student ponders their ideal summer days.
NC Answers: Favorite summer activity
A gnarly, high-energy set under a desert moon pushed Katseye into the spotlight as the group’s choreography, vocals and stage presence pulled the audience’s attention at Coachella. Questions around live delivery and crowd impact kept the conversation moving long after the set ended. The performance marked a defining moment as the group stepped onto a global stage and shaped how new audiences viewed their presence moving forward.

Taylor Morrow is a junior at NC and continues her journalism journey as  Media Editor this year. Morrow joined The Chant to branch out of her comfort zone and meet new people. She believes joining this class will have a lasting impact on her future. Morrow’s writing experience has improved as she usually writes fantasies and fictional stories. She typically writes about a day in the life of characters who have non-human-like powers and abilities. Morrow has four siblings and is the second oldest of her siblings. Along with watching some of her favorite TV shows, Morrow also enjoys thrifting. This year, Morrow is excited to help grow The Chant and get to know new staffers. Lidia Sidorova
Lidia Sidorova, Page Editor
Lidia Sidorova, a magnet junior at NC, is a Page Editor on The Chant. Her love for communication and research has not only driven her to the journalism program but also to the Speech and Debate team at NC, where she participates in meetings and tournaments. While maintaining her spot in the magnet program at NC, she participates in various activities as a magnet ambassador. Sidorova is active in her community and holds an internship at a local elementary school. If she is not working on her academics, Sidorova enjoys reading, playing guitar, and skateboarding. As she reaches her second-to-last year of her high school career, she hopes to share her passions, inspire her community, and educate those around her.  Find her on Instagram @lidia.s1111.
