NC overcame a slow start and took second place in the region standings to the tune of a 39-33 victory over the Marietta Blue Devils on Tuesday night, January 12.

“We were able to make the halftime adjustments necessary to win the game,” senior guard Ricky Shearman said. “We came out a little flat but we won and at the end of the day, that’s the goal.”

NC trailed 19-15 at the half, but once again came out strong in the third quarter, holding the Blue Devils to only four points, to take a lead which it would never relinquish. Senior forward Kenny Ume lead the Warriors, scoring 12 of his team-high 17 points in the third.

Senior forward Myles Lake added eight points and snatched seven boards.

NC (9-8) (5-2) hosts Osborne (4-8) (4-3) on Friday for “Hoopcoming.”
