U.S. state Senate runoff elections will occur December 6, causing a virtual learning day for Cobb County schools. Teachers will hand out assignments on the previous day, December 5 to continue the learning process the following day, even through online means. Less than two weeks of the semester remain, creating the perfect chance for students to catch up on outstanding assignments.

Prior to North Cobb’s all-virtual week, four other schools in the district, Nickajack Elementary School, Barber Middle School, Lindley Middle School, and Hillgrove High School, also experienced remote learning January 12th through the rest of that school week. As hospitals around Cobb County continue to undergo increasingly immense caseloads, the school district must continue seeking student and teacher safety and take necessary precautions.

Teachers face another virtual semester

While the comfort of working in bed appeals to most students, working where you sleep causes a lack of separation between work and home, which leads to sleepless nights and unproductive days. Students should try to set up a separate workspace from their beds to achieve the best workday possible. “Working from my bed definitely makes the division between my school day to the rest of my day more blurry than the days when I work from my desk. Along with that, it also makes it difficult to focus on school when in an environment I tend to relax in,” Magnet senior Abbey Corley said.
