Estefany Perdomo is a Senior at North Cobb she will begin her first year in journalism. Her obvious passion for politics was crucial in deciding the perfect magnet program. A recently discovered passion for writing allowed her to express herself in a new way. She hopes that journalism may be a place to grow her writing skills while trying a new form of writing. Some normal activities she enjoys include; walking her dog, watching soccer games while aggressively yelling at the screen, and leading teen group at her church. For Estefany family time is essential to her daily routine, she credits her family for the individual she is today. In ten years she can see herself graduating law school, but for now, she hopes to share her passion for politics with the student body.

After President Donald Trump made the executive decision to drop airstrikes in Baghdad that killed Iran’s top general, Qasem Soleimani, Americans started to speculate that Trump intended to start a conflict with Iran in order to distract Americans from his impeachment trials. “I used the game Jenga as inspiration for this political cartoon. The tower is supposed to represent the country’s stability and that’s why the American character carefully makes a move to bring impeachment into the picture. When Trump sees this he gets angry and decides to ruin the game by taking ‘revenge’ and taking out a block that would make the tower come crashing down,” NC Chant cartoonist Luis Ponce said.

“The teachers also got into the game; it was great to see everyone getting along,” junior Yamile Farias said. Teachers and students rarely get to interact with one another outside of a classroom environment, and the basketball game at Friday’sprovided NC teachers and students to interact. Everyone enjoyed the pep rally to boost the warrior spirit at NC.

Senior Ana Barahona created GEO Club here at NC in hopes to include her classmates in a great cause; in her trips to Honduras Ana discovered a special needs school in need of help and Ana started different donation drives to help the school out. All of January GEO Club is accepting school supply donations in the magnet lounge that will be donated to the special needs school.

Seniors anxiously wait for the email that may dictate their future. The University of Georgia (UGA) sends out their decisions today for students who applied in their early action round of applications. Senior Mathis already received another decision earlier this month and today she anxiously waits for her decision like several other NC students. “I am excited this will be my second decision that I’m getting from a school so I am a little nervous,” senior Ashlynn Mathis said.

NC proved their skills on the mat in their first two wins. Varsity wrestler Anthony Miranda believes that in order to win a match, a wrestler must believe in themselves no matter who they face. He, along with his teammates stayed quick on their feet and continue to work hard, their eyes set on the state tournament. “You know it's like a warrior against a warrior,” Miranda said.

Seniors enjoyed doughnuts for breakfast treated to them by NC. As students entered the cafeteria, they encountered long tables filled with orange juice, apple juice, Krispy Kreme donuts, granola bars, and fruit. “I thought it was a nice touch [the breakfast] for them to give us free food in our last year here. I really appreciate this school and everything they have done for me as a student,” said senior Anthony Miranda.

Shhhh! Varsity Cheerleaders keep quiet today October 18 for a fun tradition. They wear a football player’s jersey and only communicate between themselves to keep from getting pied at the Homecoming game. The NC students make their best efforts to entice the cheerleaders to speak. Any student who can achieve the task holds the honor of pushing a pie into the cheerleader’s face.

Parent volunteers deliver anxious students their kits for the Warrior Way 5K on Saturday, September 21. The students will kick off the race at 7:30 a.m. beginning the race on a well-marked trail. “Expect a well-marked trail full of exciting turns and hills,” said their advertisements. The race also offers the option of a virtual runner these individuals will not run in the race but will receive the cool T-shirt.

Tensions ran high as students anxiously watch the cross country team compete against the football players in a game of tug a war. Senior Jayden Walker used every muscle in his body to pull the rope, and despite their diligence, the football players ultimately lost to the girls’ cross country team. Perhaps it helped that Coaches Tener, Rainey, and finally, Queen were working against their own players to the delight of the roaring crowd.
