Once again, a new restaurant has opened in Legacy Park, even though every time one opens, it seemingly ends up shutting down or suddenly taking on new ownership. However, residents hold high hopes and believe that The Grille will provide more longevity than its predecessors.

The Grille opened last week and immediately attracted a horde of people, most of which were Legacy Park residents trying out the “new” place. Inside The Grille, you will find multiple tables and booths, plus a bar. TVs adorn the walls to the sports fans’ delight. The newest addition to the joint—a pizza oven in the back—expands the menu, also consisting of standard bar fare: burgers, wings, and sandwiches.

“The new Grille is a remarkable comeback with better ownership, and I’m excited to see what is to come,” senior Jake Miller said.

The food itself proved terrific; the French Dip flavorful, and the wings spot-on. The flavor “Big Daddy” remains a particularly memorable highlight. Despite the tasty grub, problems commonly seen in new restaurants were evident with The Grille.

First, the fries were a little on the cold side; I love my fries extra crispy, but these proved rather soft. The onion rings were closer to mediocre than marvelous, as the portion was small and lacked the proper amount of onion to fried batter ratio.

My biggest complaint remains the lengthy amount of time I waited for my food. The restaurant stood fairly empty at the time I went, so I expected the food to come out at a reasonable time. However, it took around 35-40 minutes to serve a party of four, and a little longer for the wings. Hopefully, considering they have only been open for a week, The Grille will improve their service skills.

All in all, The Grille met expectations. Its convenient location for Legacy Park residents, as well as some neighborhoods around it promises to keep customers coming back. Patrons can expect it to serve as an excellent after-work place for a drink, to eat, for young folks to hang out with friends, or for the fun karaoke nights. I know I speak for most when I say, I really hope The Grille sticks around for awhile.
