Simran Kant, an exceptionally avid junior at NC, stands as an inspiration to the student body. Through her consistent participation in a variety of clubs such as Model UN, Rally, Interfaith Atlanta Youth and Magnet Advisory Council, she sets a superior example. Kant represents the living embodiment of NC’s mission statement, letting her passion drive her and uplift those all around. Kant has passed a total of eight Advanced Placement (AP) classes, and with a GPA of 4.4, she continues to inspire new students academically as well.
Outside of her academic prowess, Kant enjoys marching band and takes her first year as Drum Major seriously. Kant has received appreciation from high-achieving ensembles and environmentally-conscious communities as she sports the Shelby Matheson Award For Environmental Excellence. Although she began her freshman year confused and overwhelmed, she quickly found her people, catching on rather quickly with marching band and learning about her passion for environmental issues. As secretary of the Eco Warriors Club, she strides toward lessening her carbon footprint and encourages those around her to do the same. With informative videos on Instagram @simrantalksgreen and presentations in the club, she stands as an accomplished student.
“I think I am inspired the most by the people around me, the people around you really influence your view on other subjects and situations.bThey inspire you and make you want to spread that same inspiration, that is why I am involved in all the things I do and because I have a passion for it. I think it is so easy in society today to feel alone; with social media there comes a lot of comparison and not being able to find your place. It is so easy to feel alone and feel scared, but being there for other people and helping them to not feel so alone will inspire them to go and do the same,” Kant said.
The NC community admires Kant’s uplifting attitude in all aspects of life, constantly sporting a smile with only kind words to say about her peers. Kant enjoys leading Hinduism lessons in her neighborhood, displaying her drive for excellence in all aspects of life. While involved in seven NC clubs, Kant still creates time for those she loves and continues to share valuable moments with friends outside of school.
The magnet student body recognizes this ambitious young woman as a leader through her role as magnet Ambassador Vice President, where she displays her knack for inspiring leadership in different aspects of NC’s demographics. With appreciation for all of Kant’s accomplishments, her role models feel proud of her as well.
“Simran inspires excellence through her demeanor, her personality, the excitement she brings to every rehearsal. She really sets the temperature for the rehearsal, she is encouraging and holds people accountable at the same time. She has such a great personality and is so likable. I have seen her grow and become stronger as a conductor… She is doing a fantastic job in regards to pacing of rehearsals… I think people can learn from her positivity. She is always smiling and encouraging, just a ray of sunshine everywhere she goes,” band director David Weibers said.
Kant holds vast and admirable accomplishments within the NC community. From her encouraging attitude towards her peers, to her commitment to the school’s environment, she keeps the ball rolling around the school. As a Drum Major, Eco Warriors Secretary and Ambassador, she sets the example for what the NC spirit embodies. Sporting her signature smile, Kant will only rise from here.
