A guide to the perfect homecoming dress

Ramita Das
Every year, the pressure to find the ideal Homecoming dress intensifies. The latest trend selections include sequins, glitter and shine, Barbiecore, corset styles and other countless options. With a variety of issues like styling for specific body types and finding price range, selecting a Homecoming dress could serve as a stressful yet thrilling process.

Homecoming marks the first major event of the school year, as students gather together to dress up and celebrate. Limited selection, budget constraints, trends and styles can become conflicting issues when searching for Homecoming dresses. Starting the search early will allow students time to explore various options and implement adjustments if necessary.

Popular dress store Windsor accommodates up-to-date fashion trends. Windsor offers a wide range of dresses that appeal to different styles, including formal, casual, party and Homecoming attire. In addition to dresses, Windsor also provides accessories, shoes and other fashion items to complete the perfect Homecoming attire.

“I bought my homecoming dress from Windsor last year. They have dresses from long to short, sparkly to even simple colors, silk ruffles and so many colors, and they range in different sizes too. I bought my dress for $75 and can say it was worth the money. Shopping for a Homecoming dress is better in person than online. You can’t fully trust the dress on a model compared to how it looks on you. And, overall, shopping in person will for sure help you find the perfect dress matched for you,” junior Skyler Dekle said.

Shopping in-store offers individuals the advantage of trying on dresses before making a purchase. This ensures they can fit the dress’s fit and comfort. Shopping in person also allows people to examine the quality of the dress and feel the dress’s actual texture.

“I would rather shop in person so that I can see how the color looks with my skin tone and see if it fits right. I got my last dress at David’s Bridal. They have tons of wedding dresses, including prom dresses of every color and style. But it was quite expensive because I got my dress for $274. The quality of it was really comfortable and good, though. If you’re on a budget, I would say to shop at Macy’s or Kohl’s because they also provide a good variety at reasonable prices,” senior Kalen Pace said.

The latest fashion in today’s Homecoming dresses includes glitter, metallic, satin, sequins and beadings. Metallic party dresses represent the perfect combination of a modern and classic look for Homecoming. Glitter dresses allow the wearer to glow in the night lights. Particularly well-known for their flirtatious, exposing appearance, sequin dresses happen to dominate the newest trends. Lucy in the Sky makes up one of the most recommended websites for gathering ideas and styles for homecoming. With a number of alternatives and styles to select from, Lucy in the Sky provides an extensive range of exactly what young people search for.

Barbiecore has evolved into one of the trendiest styles for clothing items as well as for Homecoming dresses. The widely-anticipated release of Greta Gerwig’s film “Barbie” has reintroduced Barbiecore clothes into the limelight; these outfits include pink-dominated clothing that brings out the wearer’s ultra-feminine spirit. Famous celebrities such as Zendaya, Gigi Hadid, Dua Lipa and Anne Hathaway currently take the lead in channeling their inner Barbie through Barbiecore fashion.

To utilize the additional time to explore numerous options and prevent last-minute stress, start looking for Homecoming dresses early. Considering the possible needs for alterations and planning ahead, the struggles and stress in finding the perfect Homecoming dress would lessen with extra time and attention to the latest dress trends.
