Gather the loved ones together, snuggle up with blankets and hot cocoa and embark on a cinematic journey through heartwarming tales that capture the essence of Christmas. Christmas movies feature universal themes related to people from various origins and cultures, making them a unifying and joyful pastime for numerous people throughout the holiday season. Whether one prefers the classics or enjoys the allure of modern films, these movies will add to the warmth and magic of the holiday season in people’s hearts.

As the days become shorter and the nights grow longer, one of the finest aspects of Christmas comes with the release of several must-watch movies to see with family and friends. Instead of searching upstream for a decent movie, bookmark this page for a must-watch holiday movie list to welcome in the holiday season.

A 2023 American Christmas fantasy comedy film directed by Tim Story stars Ludacris as a good-hearted, divorced social worker who despises Christmas because of terrible childhood memories. Ludacris returns home to spend Christmas Eve with his daughter, Madison Skye Validum. Evoking himself as a local politician, he forgets the joy of Christmas. He eventually comes across a man who encourages him to spread joy and Christmas spirit. This movie creates an excellent recommendation for family-friendly comedy on Disney+.

This movie, directed by Mary Lambert, showcases the ultimate friendship test with Charlotte Sander, characterized by Heather Graham, attempting to expose Jackie Jenning, played by Brandy Norwood. Not long before Christmas, Charlotte and her family end up on the Jennings family’s doorstep over a misunderstanding. Charlotte finds herself spending the holiday with her rival, and she uses that time to look for evidence that Jackie’s supposedly- perfect world consists solely of fraud. Bits of drama unravel, and the tensions produce an entertaining movie to watch for the holiday spirit on Netflix.

“I enjoy Christmas movies that have the corny romance plots. Something about them just gets me cackling and [laughing] my Christmas break away. It turned into a tradition for me and my family to make hot chocolate and gather together to watch Christmas movies. I am looking forward to all the new Christmas movies that got released this year,” junior Ivory Johnson said.

Imagine waking up on Christmas morning and not receiving any gifts. Distraught, the mischievous fifth grader Andy, played by Winslow Fegley, and Dulce, played by Camila Rodriguez, find themselves under the Christmas tree searching for presents. To receive the gifts they believe they deserve, Andy gathers a team of eight other “naughty listers” to assist him in heisting Santa’s Village in the North Pole. This teen heist offers a great mixture of action and adventure and models a great movie for families’ Christmas watchlists. Directed by Alberto Belli, the movie recreates a modern winter wonderland and emphasizes positive rather than inappropriate behavior.

Every Christmas season, the residents of Candy Cane Lane in Southern California participate in a popular Christmas decorating competition. When the prize of $100,000 showed up for this year, Eddie Murphy, who plays Chris Carver, promised to win the prize as a way to solve his family’s financial difficulties. However, further problems arise when he and his daughter, Holly Carver, played by Madison Thomas, encounter an elf, Pepper played by Jillian Bell, who places a curse on them and causes bizarre troubles for the family. Directed by Reginald Hudlin, he produced an excellent holiday movie for families looking for a thrilling comedy.

“The fun times with family and friends and the true meaning of Christmas are what make Christmas movies so enjoyable to watch. Another favorite part of Christmas is being with family, eating delicious food, and sharing love and laughter with everyone. ‘Home Alone,’ ‘Jingle Jangle,’ ‘White Christmas’ and ‘The Year Without a Santa Claus’ would be my all-time favorite movies,” junior Geianah Thomas said.
