November 22, 2024, the Douglas County High School Tigers (11-3) knocked the NC Warrior football (11-1) team out of the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) state football playoffs. Despite the elimination, fans remain committed to the team’s drive against credible squads. Heading into the 2025-2026 season, the team prepares to build on the momentum gained.
“I love hearing the announcements for our football games. I want to see the most support for next week against Archer. I need the student section packed, everyone dressed in theme, and I want to hear those crowds roar. We’ve got a good team; these guys love playing at Emory Sewell, and I know they are ready to start the season on a high note,” Head coach Shane Queen said.
With the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, senior quarterback (QB) Nick Grimstead’s (15) tenure as the first option quarterback (QB1) concluded: a crushing blow for the team and the offense. With Grimstead’s departure, a new entrant for the roster landed on the Warriors’ doorstep by way of the North Cobb Christian High School Eagles (11-2). Junior QB Teddy Jarrard (2), currently committed to Notre Dame University, announced his transfer to NC.
Ranked a four-star QB and a top 20 QB prospect in the Class of 2027, Jarrard logged a 68.7% pass completion rate with 2,752 yards and only five interceptions throughout the 2024-2025 season. Along with his stats, Jarrard led the Eagles to the semifinals of Georgia’s state private school playoffs, a first in school history. Looking at the roster, students and fans can tell this season will bring nothing but excitement. With Jarrard’s accolades and achievements, he adds insurance to the team’s superb offense. Past the offensive line, spearheaded by three-star lineman Brandon Anderson (9), Jarrard’s options down the field seem almost limitless.
With running backs Zach Belyeu(8), Aziz Helm (6), as well as wide receivers Sebastian Easley (1), Christian Woods (13) and Micah Billingsley (3), the Warriors’ offense lacks many glaring flaws. Paired with the defensive half of the roster, the team can hold its own against much of the GHSA region. The Warriors cashed that check, proving its standing in the season with a well-fought 28-14 win against the Archer High School Tigers (0-1) to open up the season with a 1-0 record.
As the 2025-26 school year begins and students return to school, the administration and student body support the Warriors’ commitment to achieve playoff glory with the coming season and bring the campus together. In an effort to connect with the student population early and to raise the school spirit, social media posts and public announcements reminded students of the first home game. Additionally, NC hosted a pep rally gameday, Friday, August 13, meant to express the campus’s support for all NC athletics.
“Full attendance at the pep rally this Friday will showcase the unity and pride of our student body. The encouragement from our school helps officers’ abilities to represent and serve in their best interests. We hope to see the student section packed and cheering on for the season opener,” magnet senior vice-president Justina Stewart said.
The NC Warriors can hold their head high following their win over the Archer High School Tigers (0-1). The team practices and conditions consistently, intending to keep their competitive edge. Focused on the mission, the team worked to prepare and keep its promise to Emory Sewell Stadium. The winds of change blow NC’s way; the Warriors must simply stand together to take hold. Against the remainder of its GHSA region, the team looks to the student body, along with the cities of Kennesaw and Acworth, for unconditional support as they work to build on the outstanding school culture.
