As leaves turn orange and yellow, students all across NC gather with family and friends to celebrate the change occurring between summer and winter. Their break-in exposed critical flaws in the vault once praised as impenetrable, sparking conversation about the security within the diamond trade.

Millions of teenagers feel lonely. While people excuse loneliness as a product of the COVID-19 pandemic or spending prolonged amounts of time on social media, that might not always hold true. Additionally, loneliness can affect teenagers’ mental, physical and academic health. Fortunately, with correct measures, combating teenage loneliness becomes possible.

With fans in attendance and the scorecards at the ready, the season finally tipped off in NC’s arena. Despite the one-point loss, the squad displayed extensive hustle and effort.

In hopes of passing a bill that ends the longest shutdown in history, Democratic and Republican senators came together Sunday, November 9, to discuss potential solutions. Now, Americans await the final vote from President Donald Trump in the upcoming days.

As the death toll rises, the people of the Gaza Strip and the world wonder what it will take to stop the conflict between the Palestinian military group Hamas and the Israeli government. A major humanitarian crisis — partially caused by the violence in residential areas — persists as one of the worst in modern history. As the war drags on, healthcare workers continue to risk their lives providing vital aid to those in desperate need and show the world that even in the face of immense danger and destruction, human compassion and empathy can endure.

Starting his first year on The Chant, Wyatt Toth, a junior at NC, joins the crew as a member of the Media Team. Toth hones his craft and is passionate about all things art. His latest escapade has been learning about music production over the summer. Outside of school, Toth enjoys watching chick flicks, finding niche music artists and eating carb-filled foods. He hopes that with a fresh mind on The Chant, he will be able to more accurately represent the student population while also having an outlet to channel his creativity.
