As May 1 approaches, NC seniors who applied in the early action and regular decision windows will celebrate National Decision Day by publicly announcing their college decisions. During their four years of high school, the seniors worked to receive acceptance letters into their desired colleges. Although, such a choice does not come without hardship. Juniors and seniors must determine which factors take importance when applying to and deciding on their future college.

Fresh off of winter break, the club members of Asian Student Association (ASA) bear wide smiles at the end of their meeting on February 27. The club meets bi-weekly on Monday afternoons in Room 608, where magnet sophomores and club-founders Sydney Ma, Catalina Santiago, Isabella Santiago and Elijah Smith provide engaging games and discussions that entice, entertain and educate its participants.

Everyone knows someone who has gone through the battle of cancer. Everyone has their own story to tell, whether they beat cancer to tell their own story or not makes every story special. When someone close begins to go through the process of cancer, it can take a huge physical and emotional toll on not only the individual, but also the community surrounding them.

During the capitol visit, junior Esteban Alarcon talked to lobbyists who recommended he talk to representative Peak and senator Thompson about the legalization of marijuana, something Alarcon feels passionate about. He plans to set up a meeting with the government officials to discuss the topic more. “I had the opportunity to to talk to some lobbyists and then they directed me to representative Peak and senator Thompson, who were part of the push for marijuana,” Alarcon said.

Hope meets every second Wednesday of every month in the Media Center from 3:30 to 4:30. Speak with Ms. D’Arcy to learn more about HoPe and how it influences the future of NC students.
