NC will travel to Lassiter highschool tonight for their second JV and third overall game. Last weeks game at Woodstock people achieved personal records. At tonights meet, four guys on each team will compete for a spot on varsity. “The goal for tonight is to see who will be on varsity and a lot of practicing. The team is just very young which is nerve racking and exciting at the same time. We will be able to see these kids develop during the season but things dont happen overnight. Im really excited about the program in the future,” track coach Chad Talley said. Field events start at 5 p.m. and the running starts at 6 p.m. which should go on until 9pm.

Despite posting a 1-4 record so far this season, junior Quintin Ferrara lost a close battle but showed his resolve throughout the match. Ferrara and the boys’ team welcomed a couple of new faces to the group earlier this season as well as coach Andrea Drake. Coach Drake prepares the team fully for upcoming region play and tournament.

Girls varsity head coach Justin Buckles pushes his team and prepares them for the season. The girls will continue practicing and working hard as they take on teams like Walton and Harrison in the upcoming weeks.

After a devastating loss at their first game, they hope to prove themselves by winning tonight. “We have been working on shooting and hopefully we can beat Lassiter tonight at the game,” varsity player freshman Camryn Zwang said.
