NC Varsity Warriors celebrated a win against the Woodstock Wolverines on Tuesday, March 5. “Woodstock isn’t what they were last year and we showed them that. I felt good during the game, the team had my back and we produced when we needed it,” senior pitcher Jonathan Young said.

Sophomore Reagan Mullinax left the field Tuesday night with five goals, the most of all the players. Although Mullinax leads the team to a win, the team plans to practice more for their next game against Allatoona high school on Thursday, February 21.

NC made it past county, sending fourteen members of the team to state this year. In the future, NC hopes to send more swimmers to county and state to better represent the school as a whole. “It felt very humbling to make it to state this year. It was a very happy moment for me because I felt like all of my hard work was starting to pay off,” sophomore Meghan Armstrong said.

The Warriors and Hawks set up on the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Earning the extra point due to the foul against NC, the Hawks put up more points on the scoreboard, eventually leading to their win. The Hawks defeated the Warriors in the fourth quarter with less than four minutes on the clock.

With a tough loss in the elite eight last year, the team plans to regain status and improve their overall performance in the upcoming season. “I am excited about this upcoming season we are returning six starters from last year’s Region 3-AAAAAAA and are looking to repeat as Region Champs with an eye towards a state championship,” Head Varsity Girls Coach Andrea Drake said.

After three years of NC track, Stobo hopes to make it to state and improve his time in the long distance events he runs. “This year my main goal is to make it to state and to accomplish this I am not going to get sick since I missed half of the season last year,” Stobo said.

On the first day of tryouts, boys lined up behind the goal, practicing a defensive drill while warming up their skills. Coaches gained the chance to observe offensive players’ skills, attackers on the goal, and goalkeepers’ defense of the goal. “Tryouts were pretty good. We have a good chance of winning region this year, and maybe go a little bit deeper than state,” Varsity player and senior Luis Guadarrama said.

Tuesday night, the Varsity Basketball boys played against the Cumberland Christian Patriots, marking their first NC home game in the new Arena. The team walked off the court with a well-earned win, ready for a successful upcoming season. “It was really fun to see the crowd in the new Arena. This renewed season should be fun, especially it being the opening year of the Arena, so I’m excited,” Sophomore and Varsity Player, Tyler Gorsuch said.
