Experts work together to expose the truth behind societys addiction to technology in the Netflix documentary, “The Social Dilemma”. The tech industry uses psychology to manipulate the human mind and influence it subconsciously. American technology ethicist, Tristan Harris, expresses his disdain for such unethicality as this documentary unravels these vast tech issues and warns viewers about the inevitable destruction coming their way. In order to reach salvation, humanity must somehow overcome a creation that knows us better than we know ourselves.

Organized crime dominated New York City in the ‘70s and ‘80s, and the FBI felt helpless against it. The Netflix documentary, Fear City: New York vs The Mafia, describes the five Mafia families controlling New York behind the scenes, and the sneaky tactics that kept them under the radar for so long. Despite tribulations, this exposé unravels how federal agents finally defeated organized crime in the late ‘80s.

Throughout 2021, extreme weather around the world intensified, and since the 1980s, climate-related extremes have increased by 83%. Despite the severity of global warming, humans can mediate the effects by acting quickly. A huge step requires reducing the use of fossil fuels and the burning of greenhouse gasses. In support of this issue, President Joe Biden recently re-entered the Paris Agreement and proposed his environmental plan at the Leaders Summit on Climate. NC students can also support our planet by remaining educated on global warming.

With AP exams just days away, students should continue studying. Any students looking to cancel their exams must do so by Friday, May 14th. Any cancellations after that date will not receive a refund. Students should also remember to take advantage of teacher-held review sessions, their College Board accounts, and any other resources their teachers may recommend.

NC hosted Senior Night for the Lady Warriors and the Warrior men’s Varsity soccer teams Thursday, April 15. The Warriors fell to Marietta, but the Lady Warriors triumphed over East Paulding. Regardless of the results, the night held countless moments that will turn into unforgettable memories.

While abstinence seems the ideal way to keep students safe, no educator can guarantee that teenagers will stay true to their pledges. In order to remain proactive and well-equipped, schools should consider providing students with the honest medical information they need to protect themselves in the event that they deny abstinence. Otherwise, student will never acquire real safety tips surrounding sex and drugs.

The NC varsity boys tennis team secured a 3-2 victory over region rival North Paulding High school. The deciding one doubles match came down to Lorenzo Alarcon and Grayson Hines, who kept the audience on their toes with split sets and tie breaker for the third set. NC earns their third win of the season and improves to a 1-0 region record. The Vanderbilt senior plays on her schools soccer team, and embraces her new role as place-kicker for their football team. Underclassmen walked onto the field, hands filled with goodie baskets and posters they made to give to each of the seniors during their ceremony.
