Along with being a part of the magnet program, Michael also is a part of Model United Nations and has helped host middle school conferences. In Model UN Michael debates world issues with other peers and together they decide solutions for countries that are represented. This organization has allowed for Michael to learn about international issues and also apply his debate tactics to other courses in school.
Dylan Kellos, a close friend of Smith’s said, “Michael is one of the most dependable and reliable people I know. If you give him something to do he will get it done as soon as he can. He’s a great friend and student.” Smith’s drive to get work done is what allows for him to succeed in school as a magnet student. His friends from The Chant say that he is sarcastic, intelligent, and a straight forward person. He joined staff last year and quickly made friends and showed his dedication to the growing Chant family.
Outside of The Chant Smith plays football for our Warriors, where he dedicates himself to becomes a better player on the field. Football is by far the favorite sport of his. Other small favorites of Michael’s include, grilling, playing with his two dogs, bonding with his three sisters , and listening to the band Queen.
After graduation in May, Smith hopes to attend the University of Georgia, a large school with close to 27,000 students, where he will discover new passions to pursue a career. Hopefully by then Smith’s reputation among teachers of having bad handwriting will fade.
