Poetry holds the modern reputation of an unvaried type of writing particularly meant for artistic people. The writing form, however, becomes diverse in its varying forms and its readers. Several aspects of poetry capture a unique sense of imagery one can mold to one’s interests. Poetry holds its rich and colorful history as poets reform it in the modern era.

After students attended school virtually for up to three semesters, teachers experienced higher rates of misbehavior in their classes. This, combined with the numerous other stressors stemming from the pandemic, caused teaching to become more difficult. “Teachers have had to deal with some of the most horrible and “unbehaved” kids I have ever seen in my entire life. Last semester, I heard about teachers crying because of how bad their students [were], how much they don’t enjoy teaching anymore,” Kell senior Presley Knudsen said.

Freshmen file into the cafeteria, avoiding the rain. For the majority of students, this semester presents them with their first opportunity to enjoy eating lunch with their peers, an adjustment to possible social changes from lockdown. “I think I have more friends, and then I lost some. My two closest friends, I feel like we actually got closer during COVID than we were before,” magnet junior Claire Stobo said.

Underclassmen adapt to in-person school

NC teachers joined educators across the county on Friday when they received the COVID-19 vaccinations at Jim R. Miller Park. The mass vaccination site effectively allowed teachers to receive vaccines to prioritize their health as they continue to open their classrooms to face-to-face students eager to learn. 100% of NC teachers polled received the COVID-19 vaccination when presented with the option. 80% of these teachers received the Moderna vaccine, while the remaining 20% received Pfizer-BioNTech’s vaccination.

Prior to North Cobb’s all-virtual week, four other schools in the district, Nickajack Elementary School, Barber Middle School, Lindley Middle School, and Hillgrove High School, also experienced remote learning January 12th through the rest of that school week. As hospitals around Cobb County continue to undergo increasingly immense caseloads, the school district must continue seeking student and teacher safety and take necessary precautions.
