Scientists ponder over the possibility of life in other parts of the universe. With the discovery of possible life on Europa, Jupiter’s fourth-largest moon, scientists at NASA wasted no time and decided to send a probe to look for life that will launch in 2024. The discovery of life on another celestial object rather than the Earth would act as the discovery of the century.

NASA’s plan to travel to the moon after decades will continue as planned if these piloted Artemis missions occur successfully. NASA wants the crew to test and perform trials aboard the ship that will eventually fly to the moon. Similar to the early Apollo missions, the purpose of this first manned Artemis mission to circle the moon and slingshot back to Earth after 10 days, will act as a great step toward NASA building a moon base.

Months after the SpaceX Crew-4 officially ended their space exhibition, family, friends and colleagues of Jessica Watkins—the first Black woman to join a space station exhibition—spoke with several news outlets to expand on Watkinss achievements and build-up of her career. During Watkins and her crew’s time orbiting the planet, the team worked closely with Russian astronauts, which stood as an intriguing geopolitical advancement as Russia dealt with strained relations with the United States due to their warfare on Ukraine.

The idea of ordinary citizens going to space will attract the younger generations to space exploration, potentially blasting off the industry. It has grown exponentially in the past 20 years after the Space Shuttle program ended. Private companies, such as Elon Musk’s SpaceX, took over the industry, developing their own technology and rockets. Commercial space travel will entice and help the idea of space for younger generations.

With excitement, NC’s astronomy club will board the new Apollo 11, with neighboring schools accompanying them. The whole project, fronted by the Space Force, will remain in the textbooks for its monumental effect. “I’m super excited for the whole team, whether from Space Force or NASA, it was really just a team effort from everyone involved. I was brought into this barely last year, and I already have such a tight bond with everyone around me. I cant wait to see how this will go,” freshman Jacob Wilkins said.

One of five rovers sent to Mars so far, Perseverance’s safe landing sparked excitement for those with their eyes on the sky. Along with anticipations surrounding new data and images, fans of NASA deciphered a colored pattern on the rover’s parachute, hinted at by NASA officials. Participants deciphered the pattern, a piece of binary computer code, to find NASA’s message and the Perseverance team motto: Dare Mighty Things.
